En Plein Air

Creating outdoors allows me to immerse myself in the landscape, where each painting becomes a personal response to the beauty unfolding before me.

My hope is that through thoughtful layers of color, light, and texture, the emotion I experience in those moments is carried onto the canvas and shared with those who view my work.

Few experiences compare to setting up my easel along the Truckee River at sunrise, listening to the gentle flow of the water as the first light of day awakens the landscape. The ever-changing interplay of light and shadow transforms familiar scenes from one moment to the next, making the pursuit of those fleeting effects one of the most rewarding aspects of painting en plein air. It is this direct connection with nature—and the challenge of capturing its constantly changing character—that continues to inspire my work.
